Paris Residents Ask Commission to Widen Dangerous' Road

Paris, TN – A group of residents who live along Paris's Travis Boyd Road say the roadway is too narrow and they're asking the Henry County Highway Commission to widen it. According to the Paris Post-Intelligencer, the commission told a group of residents Monday they would need signatures from each person living along the road before the department could take action. Residents say high speed drivers and those failing to observe the road's stop sign is a fatal accident waiting to happen.

Application Deadline for Montgomery Co. School Renovation

Clarksville, TN – Montgomery County school officials are scrambling to meet an August 21 deadline to file an application for $20 million of interest-free money to renovate its Central High School. Director of Schools Mike Harris told school board members the Tennessee State loans would be a huge savings: up to $10 million over the life of the loan. The Clarksville Leaf Chronicle reports the $21 million renovation project, will make the 1960s-era school more secure, more energy-efficient and accessible.

New Goodwill Coming to Paducah

Paducah, KY – A new Goodwill donation center is coming to Paducah. City commissioners okayed a resolution requesting the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority to issue bonds to build the store. Goodwill is expected to pay off the debt through a rental rate. The 1.2 million dollar building will be built on Irvin Cobb Drive across from the Salvation Army. City officials say that if Goodwill can't make its payments, the city will not be held responsible.

KY-299/Kirksey Highway Closed Today/Tomorrow

Calloway County, KY – KY-299/Kirksey Highway in Calloway County will be closed today and tomorrow for repaving work. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman Keith Todd says there will be no detour signs and the work will be cancelled if the weather turns bad.

Traffic ADVISORY: US-60 TN River Bridge

McCracken County, KY – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will restrict traffic to one lane on the US 60 Tennessee River Bridge between McCracken and Livingston counties tomorrow and Friday. The lane restriction will allow inspectors to complete a detailed inspection of the bridge approach spans. Inspectors plan to be on the bridge deck from approximately 8:00 a.m. to approximately 4:00 p.m. both days.

Ky. Transportation Secretary Resigns
