Kaltenbach Judge Appointment

Paducah, KY – Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear is expected to appoint Commonwealth Attorney Tim Kaltenbach as a judge in the McCracken Circuit Court either today or tomorrow. Another nominee for the open position, Attorney Lanny King tells the Paducah Sun, the governor's office contacted him yesterday saying Kaltenbach would get the appointment. 53-year-old Kaltenbach has worked for 15 years as commonwealth attorney.

Paducah Police: Have You Seen this Man?

Paducah, KY – Paducah Police are seeking the public's help to identify a man who used stolen credit cards in several west-side businesses last week. He is described as a 35-to-40-year-old white male, 5' 8" tall, weighing about 190 pounds. He was last seen wearing glasses and a hat with an "Orkin" symbol on it. Police say he is possibly driving an early 90's, white Ford F-250 extended cab truck with a toolbox in the back. If you have any information, please contact local authorities.

Secretary Accused of Stealing from Church

Paducah, KY – A church secretary in Paducah has been arrested for stealing from the congregation. 29-year-old Leigh Wilcher is charged with stealing fifteen-thousand dollars from Margaret Hank Cumberland Presbyterian Church since April this year. She allegedly took the money to pay personal bills. Wilcher was booked into the McCracken County Regional Jail on four counts of misdemeanor theft by deception.

Representative Calls for Autism Coverage

Louisville, KY – A Kentucky state representative wants to require insurance companies to provide additional benefits for families with autistic children. Representative Scott Brinkman says he will introduce legislation to that effect in next session of the General Assembly.

"The whole goal is to try to help these children maximize their skills so that as they age out of the school system and become adults, the supports they need are less pronounced and they're more self-sufficient."

Kentucky Slow Out of the Recession

Frankfort, KY – Kentucky's revenue collections this fiscal year could be 82-million dollars less than earlier predicted. At least that's the belief of the Consensus Forecasting Group, a panel of economic experts that advises lawmakers and the governor. Chairman Larry Lynch says Kentucky is still struggling to emerge from the national recession, which is showing signs of easing.

New Data Center Invests in Henderson County

Henderson, KY – A health care technology developer plans to invest two million dollars in Henderson County when it locates a data center there. Innovative Workflow Technologies intends to build a new facility near the Henderson City-County Airport, and will provide forty full-time jobs. IWT was lured to the area by state tax incentives and the proximity of the airport. The company plans to facilitate construction of a new airport hangar to help support their operations.
