Paducah, KY – This week representatives from Chambers of Commerce around Kentucky were in Louisville for the fourth annual Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Economic Summit. Presenters focused on Public Education, Health and Wellness, Modernizing Government, Energy, and Global Competition. Angela Hatton speaks with Paducah Area Chamber President Elaine Spalding about what the event means for the western Kentucky region.

MSU Receives $225,000 Grant

Murray, KY – Murray State University has received a $225,000 federal grant to help fund educational opportunities for low-income, first-generation college students. The grant comes as part of the Ronald E. McNair Post-baccalaureate Achievement program. The program is designed to encourage students from underrepresented groups to pursue graduate education. MSU can use the grant to fund research opportunities, summer internships, mentoring programs or other educational opportunities.

Clarksville Man Arrested For Robbery

Clarksville, TN – A Clarksville man arrested this week for aggravated armed robbery will appear in court Monday. Arthur Smith was arrested less than one week after being placed on the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's Top Ten Most Wanted list. Police suspect Smith committed at least 15 separate armed robberies throughout the region, including at fast food restaurants in Hopkinsville, Paducah and Paris, TN. Smith is being held at the Montgomery County jail.

Ohio Teenager Missing

Paducah, KY – A missing Ohio teenager was last seen in Paducah. 17 year old Kerry Cathleen Haskins left her home in Ohio enroute to Paducah on June 29. The Paducah Police Department determined that she was in Paducah on until June 30, visiting people whom she met online. No one has reported any contact with her since that day. Haskins is estimated to stand 5-feet-2 inches tall of slender build. She has long red hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information regarding Haskins whereabouts is urged to contact The Paducah Police Department.

The Lives of Women Immigrants

Mayfield, KY – Adriana Diaz looks like the typical working mother her hair is pulled back in a messy ponytail and she's periodically distracted by the sounds of her children, who are waiting in the other room. She's daunted by the idea of doing an interview entirely in English though she came to the U-S from Guadalajara, Mexico 15 years ago she's still not comfortable speaking her second language.
