Paducah Shooting Arrests

Paducah, KY – Two men have been arrested over the weekend in connection with a Friday morning shooting incident outside a Levin Avenue home in Paducah. 26-year-old Warren Carruthers and his brother, 32 year old Calvin Carruthers were arrested on charges of eight counts each of first-degree wanton endangerment.

Report: Number of Uninsured Tennesseans Increases

Nashville, TN – A recent report shows an increase in the number of Tennessee adults without health insurance in the past year, but uninsured children declined. The study on TennCare - the state's expanded Medicaid program - by the University of Tennessee Center for Business and Economic Research found that there are about 6 hundred and 17 thousand uninsured Tennesseans, about 10% of the state's population. That's up from just over 566,000, or 9.3% of the population, in 2008.

Poll: MSU in Paducah Good for Future

Paducah, KY – An online Paducah Sun poll finds that Murray State's supporters see its efforts to expand its services in Paducah as good for its future. Four-out-of-five of almost 1,000 people who took part the survey say the school's plans to build a new satellite campus off I-24 is a good idea. Only 1-in-10 people polled say the plans are bad or unimportant.

Atheists: References to God OK in Some Cases

Frankfort, KY – An Atheist group that won a court victory last week to have a reference to "Almighty God" stricken from Kentucky's homeland security law doesn't plan to challenge more than 30 other divine mentions in state documents. Northern Kentucky attorney Edwin Kagin says the group will mount legal challenges only in cases that it can clearly win. He says the latest Kentucky case happened to be one of those.
