Clarksville Readies for Riverfest

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville is readying for its 22nd annual Riverfest. The Clarksville Leaf Chronicle reports the city has closed McGregor Park today to prepare for the weekend festival. Riverfest begins at 5:00 pm tomorrow and runs all day Saturday. The annual festival brings music, entertainment, and vendors out each year along the banks of the Cumberland River.

MSU Student Faces Felony Trafficking

Murray, KY – A Murray State University student and Murray resident has been arrested for trafficking marijuana. Calloway County deputies, along with Murray Police and the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force agents arrested 19-year-old Jeffrey Wilson yesterday. Officers seized a large quantity of marijuana, but did not specify the exact amount. Wilson faces a felony trafficking charge. He is also charged with possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia, 2nd offense. Wilson is being held on bond at the Calloway County Jail.

Advocates Ask Judge to Block Limits on TN Foster Care

Nashville, TN – An advocacy group wants the courts to block a new Tennessee law that would penalize counties that put a high percentage of children in foster care. The motion was filed yesterday in Nashville's U.S. District Court by Children's Rights.
