Martin, TN – Former United States Attorney General Alberto Gonzales will speak at the campus of University of Tennessee Martin next week. Gonzales' speech will be "Living Legal History: Working with the White House, the Department of Justice and the Supreme Court." The event is October 22 at 7:30 PM and is free and open to the public.
Hopkinsville, KY – Kentucky Community and Technical College System President Dr. Michael McCall will be in Hopkinsville next week. McCall is visiting as part of a public advocacy campaign launched to promote post-secondary education and its impact on communities. McCall plans to visit all of the state's sixteen community colleges. He comes to Hopkinsville October 21.
Paris Landing, TN – The field of 16 teams in the Skyhawk Classic at Paris Landing State Resort Park managed to beat the impending rain yesterday. The Murray State Racers men's team beat every team in the field, except for champion Central Arkansas. The Racers came in 2nd by eight strokes.
The Racers have two events left on the fall schedule with a Monday-Tuesday date at the Austin Peay Intercollegiate in Hopkinsville, and the Stetson University Invitational in DeLand, Florida.
Melber, KY – A Graves County man is dead after his mobile home caught fire. The man has yet to be identified, pending an autopsy this morning. The blaze happened yesterday afternoon in the Melber community. Emergency responders said when they arrived at the scene the structure was fully engulfed in flames. The Kentucky State Police and the State Fire Marshall are investigating the fire.
