Paducah, KY – A McCracken County man and his stepfather were arrested on a host of drug charges Friday at their Oaks Road homes. 34-year-old Jason Grissom and his stepfather, 47-year-old James Kingston, were arrested after sheriff's deputies found five marijuana plants with growing equipment in Grissom's garage and a meth lab in a trailer behind Kingston's home. The Paducah Sun reports Kingston tried to swallow a bag of meth as deputies approached him.
Frankfort, KY – Governor Steve Beshear is encouraging Kentuckians to use local food products in their daily lives for 30 days.
Beshear and First Lady Jane Beshear hosted a Kentucky Proud dinner at the Governor's Mansion last week in Frankfort for more than 70 health care, local and state officials. Kentucky Proud is a marketing program aimed at promoting local products. Mrs. Beshear says buying local foods helps promote health living.
Metropolis, IL – The city of Metropolis IL is working with a local theater group to save the Massac Theater. The city recently seized the 70 year old condemned theater and planned to demolish it. Demolition was halted when Metropolis local Lisa Gower started a Save the Massac Theater group. The group is currently awaiting a non-profit certification to qualify for restoration grants.
