KSP Still Investigating Courthouse Fire

Bardwell, KY – After more than a year, the Kentucky State Police is still investigating the arson of the Carlisle County Courthouse. The day after Christmas 2007, an intentionally set fire completely destroyed the building. Leads in the case have not led to an arrest, and the KSP urges those with information to contact them with any information. The Kentucky Association of Counties will pay a 10 thousand dollar reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the responsible parties.

Clarksville VA Clinic

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Veterans Affair's outpatient clinic has moved into a larger facility. The building, formerly the home of OB-GYN and obstetrics offices, offers three times the space of the old location. The Clarksville Leaf Chronicle reports the clinic will expand their services to include audiology and mental health assistance. Officials hope to double the patient base, which now contains about four-thousand people. The clinic serves Middle Tennessee and fourteen Kentucky counties.

Gambling Bill

Frankfort, KY – Expanded gambling will once again go before the Kentucky General Assembly. Democratic Representative Tom Burch has pre-filed a bill that would give counties the option of legalizing video lottery terminals, which are similar to slot machines. Burch says many forms of gambling are already legal in Kentucky.

"They have pull-tabs right now at charitable gaming, at bingos and things like that. If pull-tabs isn't a manual slot machine, I don't know what I'd call it. And that is legal."
