Four Indicted in McGowan Murder

Murray, KY – A Calloway County grand jury indicted four people charged in connection to the beating death of a Murray man today. Michael Lynch, Timothy Adams, Tiffany Adams, and Jessica Johnson all pled not guilty in Circuit Court. Lynch is accused of murdering Carl Douglas McGowan; the other three are charged with complicity. Family members reported McGowan missing October 11. His body was found near the side of a road the next day. The defendants are scheduled for a hearing December 14.

Montgomery Co. Adjusts Budget for Health Insurance

Clarksville, TN – Montgomery County, Tennessee is adjusting its budget to cover the unforeseen, rising cost of health insurance. The County Commission's Budget Committee unanimously approved an amendment yesterday to cover nearly $1 million in increased rates of its employees' coverage plans. The county operates its own insurance co-op, which pays 85 percent of benefits, while employees pay the remainder. The Clarksville Leaf Chronicle reports the budget amendment still has to be approved by a full County Commission vote next month.

KET Hires New CEO

Frankfort, KY – Kentucky Educational Television has a new executive director and CEO. The network announced yesterday Shae Hopkins will be the fourth leader in KET's 41-year history, succeeding Malcolm Wall, who is retiring. KET Authority Chair Hilma Prather says Hopkins is the right person for the job.

"The manner of doing KET's business is changing daily as we move into the digital format and Shae knows that aspect of the business plus her heart and her passion are in education and that's what KET is all about."

15-Year-Old Runaway Turns Herself In

Sedalia, KY – A missing fifteen-year-old girl who apparently ran away from home Tuesday turned herself in to police last night. The Kentucky State Police is calling off a search for 15-year-old Christine Rae Bounds of Sedalia. Police had been on the lookout for Bounds in the Paducah-area based on her cell phone activity. It was not believed she had been abducted.
