MSU Weekend Sports Recap

Murray, KY – In their final home game of the season, the Murray State Racer Football team beat Austin Peay Saturday 27-17. It was Seniors Day, but also the collegiate debut of 19-year old freshman quarterback Casey Brockman, who went 18 of 33 for 216 yards. Brockman was a star quarterback for Calloway County High School last year.

KY Delegation on Health Care

Washington D.C. – All but one member of Kentucky's congressional delegation voted against the health care reform bill narrowly approved in the house Saturday. Democrat Joyn Yarmuth stood alone in backing the measure. His Democratic colleague, Ben Chandler, joined the Commonwealth's four Republican members of Congress in opposing the measure. One of those GOP lawmakers was Ed Whitfield, who says there are actually many provisions of the bill Republicans can support.

Tanner Says No to House Health Care Bill

Washington, D. C. – Tennessee's 8th District U-S Congressman has yet to endorse a health care bill. Democrat John Tanner says the bill currently before the House would not control long-term health care costs. Tanner supports controlling health care cost increases and ensuring no one is denied coverage due to pre-existing conditions. Tanner is co-founder of the fiscally conservative Blue Dog Democrats.
