Prison Costs, Population Rise

Frankfort, KY – A new report says that Kentucky's prison population and costs have risen sharply in the past decade. The report from the legislature's Program Review and Investigations Committee says the state's prison population has increased by around six thousand in the last decade and costs have gone up 157 million dollars. The Lexington Herald-Leader reports that despite the increases, Kentucky's spending for prisons is on par with states that have similar prison populations.

Paducah, KY – The Museum of the American Quilters Society in Paducah is hosting the exhibit, "Quiltmaking that Saw Us through the War Years, 1941-1945," through December 15th. Todd Hatton brings us this story on the kinds of quilts on display and what they say about the nation that made them.

Murray State Jazz Ensemble performs "all-Gershwin" show

Murray, KY – The Murray State University Jazz Ensemble presents an All-Gershwin concert next Tuesday at 8 p.m. Mark Welch spoke with the ensemble's director - Todd Hill.

Murray State University will be hosting "An Evening of Music" by George Gershwin on Tuesday, November 17 in Lovett Auditorium at 8pm. There will be several performances by the MSU Jazz Band and Orchestra as well as a piano soloist Kala Dunn. There is no admission fee.
