KY Senate Passes Nuclear Power Legislation

Frankfort, KY – Nuclear power generation could come to Kentucky under legislation passed Wednesday by the Kentucky senate. The legislation lifts a state moratorium on the construction of nuclear power plants. State senator Bob Leeper says such a power plant could be key employer when a uranium enrichment plant near his hometown of Paducah closes.

Slots are out of committee

Frankfort, KY – A constitutional amendment allowing the people to decide the future of casino gambling in Kentucky has won Senate committee approval. The State and Local Government committee voted 7-5 for the measure, sponsored by Senate President David Williams.

Hager to Speak at Chamber Meeting

Paducah, KY – Former first daughter Jenna Bush Hager is the keynote speaker at tomorrow night's Paducah Area Chamber Annual Meeting. Chamber president Elaine Spalding says Hager will speak on her experience as a school teacher, and on building business and education partnerships. Officials expect more than seven hundred business and community leaders to attend the event at Paducah's Carson Center.

Landslide on the West Kentucky Parkway

Princeton, KY – A landslide in Caldwell County has blocked an eastbound lane of the Western Kentucky Parkway. Crews are on site clearing the debris near mile marker 18 between Princeton and Dawson Springs. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Spokesman Keith Todd says the passing lane is still open and drivers should be alert for slowing and merging traffic, as well as workers.
