Lexington, Ky – As the nation celebrates Black History Month, work is continuing on the Kentucky African-American Encyclopedia. It's a lengthy project which will be a comprehensive volume of research on the black experience in the Commonwealth. Dan Modlin of Kentucky Public Radio has this update.
Frankfort, KY – A Senate committee in Frankfort has handed Kentucky's billboard industry an initial victory in a longstanding battle. The Transportation Committee voted unanimously to let the industry come onto public rights-of-way to cut down trees and vegetation blocking private signs. Leigh Ann Thacker speaks for the industry.
Murray, KY – Henry County Tennessee's jailer has been fired after an alleged road rage incident in Murray. Murray Police arrested 30-year-old Donnie Bass January 31st. The Henry County Sherriff's department describes his action as a "road rage incident with a second party." Murray Police report, Bass refused a breathalyzer test. He was held on $500 bail and was ordered not to contact to the alleged victim. Bass had been the Henry County Jailer since October 2008. He will appear in Calloway County Court February 16th.
