IL Early Voting Now Available

Springfield, IL – Early voting in Illinois starts today. The early voting centers will remain open through January 28, with some locations open on weekends and on the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. With an impressive turnout for early voting in 2008, the election board expects similar results this year. Both the governor's seat as well as President's Obama's old senate seat are on the ballot this election.

Paducah Philanthropist Myre Dies

Paducah, KY – Philanthropist Jane Myre has died. Mayor Bill Paxton says Myre was generous and loved the community. She donated millions of dollars to the Carson Four Rivers Performing Arts Center which is named after her father, who built a Coca Cola Plant in Paducah in 1939. Myre lived in Paducah her entire life, leaving many residents mourning her passing. The Paducah Sun reports her funeral arrangements have yet to be completed.

Irvin Cobb Apts. Floods

Paducah, KY – Several people living in Paducah's Irvin Cobb Apartments were forced to evacuate late last night after a fire sprinkler line on the building's fourth floor froze and burst. Water flooded the building, damaging parts of its electrical system. Fire Marshall Greg Cherry ordered residents evacuated. City Building Official Joel Scarborough says the building's owner has repair staff on the scene, working to allow reoccupation as soon as possible.

Dunlap Attorneys Want Photos Excluded

Smithland, KY – Attorneys for a man charged in a Trigg County triple homicide don't want jurors to see photographs of injuries to three children their client is accused of killing. Kevin Wayne Dunlap's lawyers filed a motion on Friday asking that the photographs be kept out of the trial because they would be inflammatory and prejudicial. Dunlap allegedly raped and stabbed Kristy Frensley and killed her three children, before setting fire to their Trigg County home in the fall of 2008.
