Governor Steve Beshear has ordered all Kentucky state buildings to fly flags at half staff tomorrow in honor of a fallen Fort Campbell soldier. Twenty-year-old Shane Wilson of Kuna, Idaho, died Oct. 18 in Afghanistan. He was a private first class in the 101^st Airborne Division.

Dozens of Vietnam era military veterans are at Fort Campbell today to commemorate the 43rd anniversary of the Battle of Hamburger Hill. The battle took place in May 1969, involving the 3rd Brigade of the 101st Airborne Division. After one of the bloodiest confrontations of the Vietnam War, U.S. and South Vietnamese forces captured the mountain that the Americans referred to as "Hamburger Hill."

Clarksville Police Charge Teens in Killing of Soldier

Clarksville Police have charged two teenagers in the shooting death of a Fort Campbell soldier. Police found 22-year-old Specialist Taylor Hotzoglou inside his car with multiple gunshot wounds early Sunday morning. Yesterday, police announced the arrests of 18-year-old Giovanni Johnson and a 17-year-old youth. Johnson is held without bond at the Montgomery County Jail. The juvenile suspect is in the Columbia Juvenile Detention Center. The victim’s family says he had just returned from a deployment to Afghanistan.

Soldiers Return to Fort Campbell

Sixty-five soldiers are set to return to Fort Campbell today after a yearlong deployment to Kuwait and Afghanistan. They are members of the 227th Quartermaster Company, 129^th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 101st Sustainment Brigade. A welcome ceremony is scheduled at the PPC Bay A.

Fort Campbell Soldier Receives Distinguished Service Cross

A Fort Campbell soldier credited with saving the lives of two fellow soldiers while wounded during an attack in Afghanistan will be presented with the nation's second highest military honor. Sergeant Felipe Pereira of the 101st Airborne Division will receive the Distinguished Service Cross today at the post. According to the citation, Pereira suffered shrapnel wounds to his spleen, lung and liver when his unit was attacked in November 2010 in Kandahar province. He refused medical treatment and helped evacuate two other wounded soldiers.
