Kentucky First Lady Jane Beshear designated Dawson Springs as the state's first "Trail Town" as part of an effort to promote and develop adventure tourism opportunities across the Commonwealth. Its design is to allow teens between the ages of 13 and 15 an opportunity to navigate outside of their immediate neighborhoods, while providing safety and peace of mind when young teens explore by bicycle. Camp founder and BikeWorld co-owner Martha Emmons describes it as "helping teenagers become confident young leaders with a connection to Paducah."
