City Council members passed the second reading of the alcohol ordinance last night in an 8 to 3 vote. Residents voted in July to move from liquor by the drink sales at restaurants to a fully wet city.&nbsp;The ordinance sets an 8 percent regulatory tax for both restaurants and packaged stores. Hours of operation are 6 AM to midnight, and Sunday sales are prohibited. Murray voted to move from liquor by the drink sales to a fully wet city in July. Councilman Jay Morgan says the ordinance sets an 8% tax rate for both restaurant and packaged sales. It also sets hours of operation for 6 am to 12 am with no alcohol sales allowed on Sunday. The council has until the 19th to pass the second reading of ordinance. The city council read the latest version of the resolution, which gives Murray State students a 30 day grace period to buy the sticker. The grace period would be extended to anyone who moves into or begins working in Murray after the June 1 deadline. The sticker would cost a pro-rated amount of 36 dollars for students if purchased between August and May; not having one could incur a 100 dollar fine.
