It's a landmark study and opportunity in Murray for anyone between the ages of 30 and 65 years old. They talk about the first two studies: the first from the 1950s, was a look at how smoking relates to cancer; the second, from the 80s, centered around nutrition guidelines for preventative methods like how sitting longer shortens longetivity. The third study will consist of doing a survey at home and then going to the Murray Calloway County Hospital. The goal is to find links among people across the nation to find out what causes cancer and what can be done to prevent cancer. See more about this study.

Wed, 07 Aug 2013 16:33:21 +0000 Kate Lochte 33787 at http://wkms.org Participate in National Cancer Prevention Study 3 Relay for Life Raises Awareness in Murray http://wkms.org/post/relay-life-raises-awareness-murray
The American Cancer Society's Community Representative Pam Whittemore likens the Relay for Life event at Murray's Stewart Stadium this Friday night to the experience of a cancer patient: everyone's there at the diagnosis or beginning, then during treatment attention dwindles or is unwanted, and upon cure everyone's back cheering. So Friday's event opens at 7 p.m.; the Luminaria Ceremony is at 9:30; and bands play from 11 p.m. to 3 p.m. when everybody's tired and there's some attrition. Nonetheless everyone's back for the 7 a.m. awards ceremony Saturday.

Fri, 03 May 2013 21:01:13 +0000 Kate Lochte 31393 at http://wkms.org Relay for Life Raises Awareness in Murray American Cancer Society Enrolling for Cancer Prevention Study in Paducah http://wkms.org/post/american-cancer-society-enrolling-cancer-prevention-study-paducah

Lourdes Hospital hosts enrollment for CPS-3 in mid-November. This study continues over a half century of research that has confirmed links between smoking and obesity and cancer. Eric Walker is Associate Director for Mission Support of the American Cancer Society.
