KLC Plans to Recommend Simplifying City Classification System

Kentucky’s system for classifying its cities is antiquated, illogical and should be changed. That’s the recommendation of a Kentucky League of Cities task force that’s been looking into the issue for the past two years. Midway mayor Tom Bozarth chairs the panel. He says the current structure of six classifications is like a caste system that restricts home rule in many cities.

Cantrell Elected to KLC Executive Board

The Kentucky League of Cities has elected Mayfield Mayor Teresa Cantrell to the group’s Executive Board. The new position comes after her election to the KLC’s Board of Directors last year. Cantrell will continue to serve in her previous position as well as the new one. She says the top two items on the upcoming KLC agenda are Retirement Reform and City Revenue Issues.
