He’s the Keynote speaker for the Purchase Area Development District caregiving seminar on May 2nd at the Carson Center in Paducah. His presentation is focused on the question: If you are caring for someone, who is caring for you? Thursday at 9:30 a.m. The Carson Center in Paducah presents the Paducah Symphony Orchestra in performance for the second time in its Class Acts Education Series. 3rd through 6th graders are going to hear a concert featuring the music of Bizet, Beethoven, Copland, and many more. Kate Lochte continues our series of interviews with young people of western Kentucky who are finding success “out there” in major markets. This time we meet a co-founder of the Brian Blade Fellowship Band, Jon Cowherd.

Pianist Jon Cowherd is a member of jazz vocalist Cassandra Wilson's band, and his instrumental work has graced albums by the likes of Rosanne Cash, Lizz Wright, Iggy Pop, Marc Cohn, Mark Olson and Victoria Williams. He tours with Ms. Wilson, Rosanne Cash and also his Fellowship Band, which he co-founded with percussionist /bandleader Brian Blade with whom he discovered musical brotherhood while both were students at Loyola University in New Orleans.

West Side Story Revival Comes to Paducah

The original production of West Side Story opened on Broadway in 1957. The film version premiered in 1961, and won a slew of Academy Awards, including Best Picture. This musical adaptation of Romeo and Juliet is a favorite among many for its high energy dance numbers, its memorable songs, and its enduring storyline. The traveling production of West Side Story comes to the Carson Center in Paducah, November 19 and 20. Angela Hatton spoke with Theo Lencicki, who plays Riff, the leader of the white street gang, the Jets.

72 year old Lincoln Henderson is described as a distinguished looking man with a tidy white goatee and a wry smile. Former Master Distiller for Brown-Forman, Mr. Henderson helped develop Woodford Reserve, Jack Daniel’s Gentleman Jack, and Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel. Now he’s spearheading the new craft distiller, the Louisville Distilling Company, whose 86.6 proof small-batch bourbon Angel’s Envy is the star of the Carson Center’s 8th Annual Distiller Dinner on Saturday, October 27th.

Gordon Meredith Lightfoot was born in Orillia, Ontario, Canada, and this is his 73^rd year. He performs at The Carson Center in Paducah on Thursday, September 27, a week from today. Kate Lochte spoke with Mr. Lightfoot one evening a few weeks back, for a conversation heard on Sounds Good. He was in his Toronto home’s office and music room where the band practices in advance of the tours like the one bringing him to our region.
