Kentucky BOE To Consider Organizing Middle School Athletics

The Kentucky Board of Education will soon reconsider its policies governing middle school athletics. A legislative task force crafted final recommendations this week, which include many policies already in place at the high school level.

Three Former UTM Football Players Face Robbery, Kidnapping Charges

Three former University of Tennessee at Martin football players face robbery and kidnapping charges. Linebacker Cortez Bowen was removed from the team after he and former players Richard Taylor and Jeremy Anderson allegedly robbed and kidnapped two UTM students at gunpoint earlier this month. A 17-year-old juvenile is also charged in the incident.

In OVC football over the weekend. the Murray State Racers fell 35 to 38 to Jacksonville State’s Gamecocks Saturday. Elsewhere, SEMO beat Austin Peay 48 to 27. Eastern Kentucky lost to Eastern Illinois 24 to 7, and Tennessee State brought down Tennessee Tech 22 to 21.

In OVC Football over the weekend, Murray State fell to UT Martin 66 to 59 in this year’s MSU Homecoming game. Tennessee State beat Southeast Missouri 40 to 28. Austin Peay lost to Eastern Kentucky 45 to 14. And Jacksonville State lost to Eastern Illinois 31 to 28.

In Ohio Valley Conference football over the weekend, the Murray State Racers improved to 3 and 3 for the season with a 52 to 14 road win over Austin Peay Saturday. Jacksonville State won out over Tennessee Tech 37 to 28, UT Martin beat Eastern Illinois 51 to 37, and Eastern Kentucky fell to Tennessee State 23 to 20.

MSU Falls to FSU at Tallahassee in football season opener

MurrayState kicked off its 88^th football season Saturday on the road with a 69 to 3 loss to Number 7-ranked Florida State in Tallahassee. It was the first meeting between the two teams. The Racers will return next Saturday for their home opener against Central Arkansas at Roy Stewart Stadium. Kick-off time is 6 p.m.
