On Sounds Good, we welcomed Yasamin Ausenbaugh,Director of Christian County Cares 2015. She outlined the events of the International Festival in Hopkinsville at the JEB Convention Center, March 15 & 16. featuring international foods, a global village, international performers from Indian to American, performing Tribal Belly Dance to the Nyama Drum Ensemble. The performers come from the Global Education Center in Nashville. Click here for more information about the festival.

Betty Lingenfelter and The Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates

Betty Lingenfelter received a liver 15 years ago via the Kentucky Organ Donor program. She waited a year and a half before a liver became available. She's grateful for the time and worries everyday about others who are now waiting like she did. Today, Betty is a Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliate and a Christian County Chamber Diplomat and spoke with Kate Lochte about her work with the program on Sounds Good.

Former Soldier Convicted of Possessing Child Porn

A former Fort Campbell soldier has been convicted of possessing child pornography. Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway says a Christian County jury found Michael Myers guilty on 12 counts and recommended he register as a sex offender for 20 years. Myers was indicted in 2010 after an undercover cybercrimes investigation in September 2009. His sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 5.

Hopkinsville Men Found Guilty of Murder

Two men with alleged ties to a Clarksville, Tennessee gang are facing five decades in prison after a Hopkinsville, Kentucky jury found them guilty of the 2008 murder of Shyarra Olavarria. Her remains were found in a remote area of Christian County in May of that year.

Hopkinsville Historian Recounts Black Patch Tobacco Wars

The black patch tobacco wars of the early 20^th century pitted farmer against farmer as a group of men sworn to secrecy used destructive tactics to coerce collective action. Hopkinsville’s Pennyroyal Area Museum commemorates the war with several activities starting Friday (September 21). Official Historian for Hopkinsville and Christian County William T. Christian County Fertilizer Ban Considered

High levels of run-off pollution in a Christian County river that empties into Lake Barkley has officials considering a fertilizer ban there. The Kentucky New Era reports that’s one of the options federal environmental authorities are looking at if the Little River isn’t cleaned of agricultural run-off pollution.
