To celebrate Earth Day 2024 and promote regional biodiversity, the Watershed Studies Institute, the Departments of Biological Sciences and Art, and the Murray Art Guild are working together to sponsor the Second Annual Open Juried Biodiversity-themed Art Exhibition, Nature: The Beauty of Diversity, during April 2024. The goal of this collaborative event is to highlight biodiversity at multiple scales across and within species and ecosystems and to promote biodiversity appreciation in the region and beyond through various creative art forms.
The exhibit will be on display in the Biology Atrium on Murray State University's main campus from April 12 to April 25. There will be a public reception on April 25 from 5 to 6 pm.
A self-taught artist and cabinet maker from Fulton, Kentucky, Henderson was an artist with a disability whose paintings and carved birds of the southern United States won accolades and fans among art collectors and others.
A launch party for this exhibit will take place on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. with a short program discussing Henderson’s art with Discovery Park senior director of exhibits and collections, Jennifer Wildes. This event is FREE for all guests. Light refreshments will be served.

Join us for a beginner course on the AP Lazer - Laser Engraver with maker space director, Heather Staggs.
In this first class, participants will learn the basic functions of the laser, what types of materials can be used, and the types of items that a person can engrave. Participants will go through Lightburn Software for shapes, text, and formatting, The Group will also discuss and learn cuts/layers. Participants will leave with a small base practice piece.
