Clarksville to Increase Advertising

Clarksville, TN – A new contract with a professional marketing service has Clarksville, TN spending over a hundred thousand dollars on self-promotion and advertising. The Clarksville Leaf-Chronicle reports MMA Creative is leading the city's effort to brand itself "Tennessee's Top Spot." The company will provide public relations at national and local levels, including the creation of magazine and television advertisements and the placement of a billboard on a major interstate.

KY Natural Gas

Murray, KY – The Public Service Commission is warning that Kentuckians will be paying substantially more for natural gas this winter. PSC Chairman David Armstrong says the average Kentucky customer will likely pay about 17 percent more this winter than last for natural gas. The PSC reports Kentucky's five major natural gas distribution companies expect the average wholesale cost this November to be up 24 percent. Heating systems in roughly 44 percent of Kentucky homes use natural gas.

KY Natural Gas

Louisville, KY – The Kentucky Public Service Commission says the commonwealth is not immune to an increase in natural gas prices. It's more expensive around the country, and the PSC estimates the price this coming winter in Kentucky will be up about 17 percent. Spokesperson Andrew Melnykovych says the gas that will be used this winter was purchased and stored in the summer, when a sudden interest in commodities drove prices up.
