Amish Guilty Verdict Appeal

Mayfield, KY – Graves District Court Judge Deborah Crooks gave the men until the end of May to pay fines and court costs. One defendant, Danny Byler, faces four violations and over six hundred dollars in fees. ACLU Staff Attorney William Sharp represents the defendants. Sharp says the ACLU of Kentucky believes the state constitution provides greater protection for individuals to practice their chosen religion than the US Constitution.

Beshear Won't Stay Execution

Louisville, KY – Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear says he won't take action to halt Friday's execution of Death Row inmate Marco Allen Chapman. Beshear told reporters in Louisville Monday that he's given the matter "a lot of prayerful thought" and carefully reviewed the facts of the case and has decided there's no reason to intervene.

McCracken Escapee

Paducah, KY – McCracken County Jailers are looking for an inmate who escaped early this morning from the county jail. Chad L. Toy was serving a sentence for robbery, with other charges pending. Officers describe Toy as a 23 year old white male, 5 feet, 7 inches and 140 pounds. He has blue eyes and brown hair. The escapee should be considered dangerous and should not be approached. If sighted, residents should call 911 or local police.

"Doubt" at Market House Theatre
